中秋快乐 – Happy Mid-Autumn Festival

中秋快乐 (pinyin: Zhōngqiū kuàilè), meaning Happy Mid-Autumn Festival in Chinese, spelt out in neon glow sticks in Victoria Park, Hong Kong, this Thursday, as the city celebrated the most colourful festival of the year.

Mid-autumn festival is traditionally three days of light, lanterns and mooncake, all in celebration of the year’s biggest and brightest full-moon. In Hong Kong, that means many locals make their way to Victoria Park in Causeway Bay to see the annual Lantern Wonderland exhibition staged by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, and to burn candles and display their lanterns on the park’s lawn. It’s also a chance for the more creatively-minded to put on a little exhibition of their own.
