Stuck in a truck at Yuanyang Rice Terraces, Yunnan Province

Whether it’s Chinese landscapes or Hong Kong cityscapes, the buildings and people or life on the street, most of what I photograph reflects the many and varied things I love about Hong Kong and China and I hope my photography conveys a little of the sense of imminent discovery I feel every time I step out of my door.

I only came for a year, on a whim from Manchester back in 2009, yet still I’m here, one man and his camera, trying to photograph as many aspects of this great city and the Motherland above while I still can. After five years in Hong Kong, I moved to Shanghai in the summer of 2014, and while it was hard to say goodbye to the lights, and the hikes, and all of that amazing food, it feels like my mainland adventure has finally just begun.

It’s always the compulsion to travel that comes first. It just so happens that in the same way that to not travel is almost unthinkable, to not in some way document that experience in words or in pixels, is likewise not an option. This website is thus the shady nook of the online for all things written and photographed over the course of my recent wanderings. There are Hong Kong images and China diaries. There’s much random bloggery and plenty to check out in the galleries.
