13 film and tv productions that received sag-aftra exemptions

Not all film and television projects are at a standstill amid the Hollywood actors’ and writers’ strikes. As the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) continues its standoff against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), the guild has granted exemptions to productions such as TV Tehran and chosen.

Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, national executive director and chief negotiator for SAG-AFTRA, said deadline that the terms of these “interim agreements” are the same as the union’s “last counteroffer to AMPTP on all issues in this negotiation” and the opt-out process “reflects the complexity and business relationships and structures in this industry.”

Eligibility for waivers depends on whether there are “AMPTP fingerprints on the project,” Crabtree-Ireland added. “If there isn’t, and we verify that through our staff, who look into these things, then they will be eligible for an interim agreement. If there are AMPTP connections to the project then they won’t be. That’s the overall answer.”

In addition to the two TV series mentioned above, SAG-AFTRA has also reached interim agreements with several high-profile film projects. Read on for details on 13 exempt productions…
