Actress Akanksha Juneja fell victim to a phishing scam while ordering food online

In recent times, phishing fraud has reached alarming proportions, claiming many victims, including prominent personalities. Akanksha Juneja, the talented actress who portrays Nidhi in the popular TV show Kundali Bhagya, recently revealed her own encounter with cyber crime, losing Rs 30,000 in the process while trying to order food online.

Speaking about the harrowing incident in a recent interview, Akanksha narrated, “The frequency of cyber fraud cases is concerning and we all try to be cautious. However, scammers have become incredibly cunning, creating new methods to cheat people. On one occasion, I received a call from a seemingly genuine company number while placing a food order. The caller insisted that I confirm the order by clicking on a link sent to my phone. Although I questioned the necessity of such a step, the respective person convinced me that it is a new protocol for confirming food orders. Unfortunately, as soon as I clicked on the link, Rs 10,000 was deducted from my account every 5 minutes.”

The actress continued: “I was totally stunned and desperate to understand what was happening. Luckily, I remembered clicking on that suspicious link and immediately contacted my bank to freeze my account. Despite my quick action, I lost a significant amount of 30,000 lei. It was really disheartening for me because hard-earned money being wasted for no reason brings great sadness.”

Warning others about the menace of online fraud, Akanksha urged everyone to be extremely cautious. She pointed out: “In today’s world, people need to remain vigilant about the widespread online scams. The link the fraudster sent me allowed unauthorized access to my phone, leading to the unfortunate incident. Never click on links from unknown sources, as scammers are incredibly good at scamming unsuspecting people.”

Apart from her acting roles in well-known projects like Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, Hamaari Beti Raaj Karegi, Dil Se Di Dua Saubhagyavati Bhava and Saath Nibhaana Saathiya 2, Akanksha’s cautionary tale serves as a stark reminder of the importance of cyber security and staying vigilant against digital security.
