‘danger!’ bosses can delay season 40 indefinitely

Danger! bosses continue to debate whether to shut down production in solidarity with the ongoing WGA strike, and according to a public ticketing website, decision day is fast approaching.

Website Audience on camerawhich notifies users when to request tickets for studio-filmed shows, shows that Danger! registration will begin again on Tuesday, August 15.

A user on Danger! reddit forum noted that “the data has been there for a while” but “the tickets have not yet been released. They could still take it down if they decide not to go ahead with the recordings during the strike.”

Another pointed out how the next season was going to start with a series of postseason specials, including The second chance tournament and Champions Wildcard, both allowing Season 39 contestants another chance to qualify for the Tournament of Champions. But now there is confusion over whether any of these tournaments will go ahead as planned.

“What I find interesting is that the new season was supposed to start with the postseason and yet all the potential second chance wildcard tournament contenders and champions I’ve seen still seem to refer to these tournaments as if they haven’t received a word/invitation yet,” wrote one Reddit user.

“They may be under an obligation to not reveal anything until the show officially announces things,” they continued. “But if not, you’d think the show would give them a little more attention than that if the postseason went as planned.”

The 2023 Tournament of Champions, which would likely be part of this postseason, is in serious danger of not happening. Several Season 39 champions have said they will not compete while the WGA strike is ongoing.

“Prospects look bleak for the writers’ strike to end quickly and Danger! returning to the schedule to begin filming Season 40,” says a source. – They ran out of time. If the strike continues, they may have to postpone the season indefinitely.”

Ray LaLonde, who qualified for TOC after winning 13 games earlier this year, took to Reddit last week to outline his position, noting that “there are now credible reports that the producers are making contingency plans to begin shooting the next season of the show with old and/or recycled material if the WGA strike remains unresolved.”

LaLonde said he has “informed the producers of the show that if the strike remains unresolved, I will not cross the picket line to play in the Tournament of Champions.”

The other Season 39 champions Cris Pannullo, Ben Chan, Hannah Wilson, Luigi de Guzman and Troy Meyer supported LaLonde and said they too will not be participating in TOC 2023.

Regarding the suggestion again Danger! episodes reusing old cues as a loophole around the strike, fans aren’t on board.

“I don’t want it to deal with recycled cues from the new shows as the writers hammer away. Makes me question (Michael) Davies as a producer,” one viewer wrote.

Another fan added: ‘I can’t believe I’ve missed a new episode of Danger since before Ken’s original run, but I won’t be watching any new episodes with recycled material once the new season starts.”

“Instead of recording new episodes with recycled cues, if the hit leaks next season, take it as an opportunity to create ‘Jeopardy Classics,'” one fan suggested. “Show some memorable episodes from past seasons, like particularly exciting plays during Ken, James and Amy’s record-breaking runs.”

Danger! Season 40 is set to premiere on September 11.
